Privacy Policy

The short version: PollyGlot does not collect your personal data. Your learning progress lives on your device. Speech recognition and AI conversations run on-device. We have no ads, no trackers, and no analytics SDKs.

1. Who we are

PollyGlot ("the App") is operated by Hangzhou Original Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the App handles and where it goes — which, in almost every case, is nowhere.

2. Data we do NOT collect

We do not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number.
We do not collect your learning history, streaks, XP, or progress — these are stored only in the App's local database on your device.
We do not record or upload your voice. Pronunciation scoring uses Apple's on-device speech recognition (requiresOnDeviceRecognition); audio never leaves your phone.
We do not use advertising identifiers, third-party analytics, or tracking SDKs of any kind.
AI conversations with Polly run on Apple's on-device Foundation Models where supported. Conversation text is not transmitted to us.

3. Data handled by Apple

Purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). We receive no payment details and no personally identifying purchase information. Apple's handling of this data is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.

4. Notifications

If you grant permission, the App schedules local daily reminders (e.g., streak reminders). These are generated on your device; no push-notification server is involved.

5. Permissions the App requests

Microphone — only for speaking exercises, only while you record, processed on-device.
Speech recognition — to score your pronunciation, on-device.
Notifications — optional daily practice reminders.

Each permission is optional; the App remains usable if you decline (speaking exercises offer a skip option).

6. Data retention & deletion

Because your data is stored only on your device, deleting the App deletes all of it. There is no server-side copy to request or erase.

7. Children's privacy

The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. It contains no ads, no social features, and no external links inside the learning experience.

8. Changes to this policy

If a future version of the App introduces optional online features (for example, cloud sync), we will update this policy first and clearly ask for your consent inside the App before any data leaves your device.
