Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Hangzhou Original Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. ("we", "us") governing your use of the PollyGlot iOS application ("the App"). By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. The service

PollyGlot is a gamified language-learning app offering lessons, audio, speaking practice, spaced-repetition review, and AI-assisted conversation practice. Language content is provided for educational purposes; we do our best to keep it accurate, but the App is a learning companion, not a certified translation or examination service.

3. Subscriptions (PollyGlot Plus)

• Plus is an optional auto-renewing subscription: $9.99/month or $59.99/year (prices may vary by region; the App Store shows the final price before purchase). The yearly plan may include a 7-day free trial.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions). Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
• Unused portions of a free trial are forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store policies; we cannot issue refunds directly.

4. Free tier

The free tier includes a daily allowance of lessons and Polly chats and one language course. Allowances reset daily and may be adjusted over time; we will not reduce what a paid subscription already grants during its current term.

5. Acceptable use

• Don't attempt to reverse-engineer, redistribute, or resell the App or its content (lessons, audio, artwork).
• Don't use the AI conversation feature to attempt to generate unlawful or harmful content. AI replies are automatically generated and may occasionally be inaccurate — don't rely on them as professional advice.
• Don't use the App in a way that violates applicable law or App Store terms.

6. Intellectual property

The App, the PollyGlot name, the Polly character, artwork, lesson content and audio are our property or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal learning.

7. Your progress data

Learning progress is stored locally on your device (see our Privacy Policy). We are not able to restore progress lost through device loss, App deletion, or iOS restore, since we keep no copy.

8. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the App. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Changes

We may update the App and these Terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date; continued use after changes means you accept them.

10. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially violate these Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights you hold under the laws of your place of residence.
